When passions collide!

I remember watching my first auction in the spring of 2019, after over a decade as a public speaker and Celebrant I knew that the allure of calling auctions would be in my future, definitely on the 5 year plan. The energy and emotion that goes into an auction is so similar to the vibes of a big event, and like weddings I saw an opportunity to bring some energy and joy to an otherwise stressful process. Fast forward to the 2020 Covid lockdown and necessity fast tracked me to the call!

Until then, like many smaller Canberra agencies, home.by holly called in the expertise of interstate auctioneers who were exceptional at what they do! The logistics of having everyone stuck in their own states created an obstacle that was a little too hard to navigate, so off I went, calling my first 20 odd auctions online!

I am so obsessed with calling auctions, they are something you can almost never rehearse for as each one is so different, with so much management of expectations and outcomes and coaching needed. Every element of it, I am in my element.

Through calling over 140 auctions, competition and the REIACT Auction Chapter, I fell in love with not only the auction process, but the incredible community of exceptional Auctioneers that are in Canberra. So in the wee months of 2022 “Called It” became an idea that has flourished from a concept, to an exciting new service offering for agents and vendors across Canberra. I am so proud to be the Director of Called It, working with exceptional Auctioneers to deliver auctions that deliver exceptional results.

My dream for Called it is for it to be the space for auctioneers to build a community, to get training and mentorship, and to bring a new wave of auctions to the Canberra Real Estate market.
